Publisher’s Synopsis:
When it comes to women, I know what they want. And all day long, I give it to them. Dark, broody, and sexy? You got it. Need to laugh? I’m your guy. Desperate for something to put you in the mood? You’ve come to the right place, kitten.

When it comes to women, I know what they want. And all day long, I give it to them. Dark, broody, and sexy? You got it. Need to laugh? I’m your guy. Desperate for something to put you in the mood? You’ve come to the right place, kitten.

Every morning when my library opens, there’s a line around the block, the ladies flocking to me in need of their next book boyfriend. I’m that dude. The one who knows his way around the romance section.

And after years of study, my skills don’t stop at the day job. Need a fake boyfriend, fiancé, or friend-with-benefits? I know that plot. I also know to keep my heart off the table, because love is only real between the pages of a book.

So when Parker Elliott needs a temporary fake boyfriend for a reunion, of course I step in. She rocks a mean guitar, she has no idea how sexy she is, and we have something of a history.

Easy, right?

Yep. Piece of cake.

Except this time, I’m actually in danger of falling in love.

Point of view:
1st Person. Alternating perspectives by chapter.

Rellim’s Thoughts:
Knox is a librarian and author of the “Mr. Romance” blog where he reviews and recommends romance books. Parker, Parker Elliott is a career-minded woman who is out to land a big deal and wants to bring a date to her high school reunion where a guy who holds the keys to the “big deal” might be at in a few weeks. Was that kind of confusing? Yup, me too. That was my biggest hurdle with this book – the “set up” that was driving this couple together. Somehow Parker zeros in on bidding on a date with Knox at a literacy fundraiser auction. We’re never told how she discovered him or why she’d take someone she thinks is total stranger to this reunion.

Once the story gets going… It’s kind of over-the-top ridiculous, but if you go into it knowing that – you’ll have a lot of fun. There’s crazy dates, meetings with families, hot sex, B&E by a SEAL sibling, a double fake fiancé trope, animal prints, and an eventual HEA.

While Pippa Grant claims these are all standalone and they aren’t shelved as part of a series, there is definitely a reading order if you want to know what happened to other people mentioned in the book. I am a lover of all things chronological. Also, you’ll read/hear Knox constantly listing all these amazing romance novels – Grant has collected/linked all that on Mr. Romance Recommends.

Narration:
I enjoyed Joe Arden and Karen White’s narration. Arden gives Knox this slightly cocky edge that I didn’t attribute when reading it but really enjoyed. White has a great voice for a serious and mature woman (Parker is late 30s).
