Publisher’s Synopsis:
When half–wolf shifter Frankie Newman receives an e-mail from a family member she didn’t know existed, a secret is revealed: as a child, Frankie witnessed her father killing her mother…and then himself. Frankie was torn from her pack by her mother’s human relatives, and the trauma was erased from her memory. Realizing that she’s been lied to her entire life, she’s never felt more alone. Until she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.
Trick Hardy, enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, can sense the rush of mutual attraction when he sees Frankie again. He knows immediately that she’s his true mate. But he also knows that, given her fragile state, he needs to tread with care—no matter how fierce his surging desires.
As aroused as Frankie is by Trick’s darkly dominant air and simmering desire, her priority right now is her past—not her future, no matter how tempting. But as more secrets emerge and Frankie’s life is threatened, Trick must do everything he can to keep her close and safe. After all, it’s their destiny.
Point of view:
3rd person.
Rellim’s Thoughts:
This is another one of my favorites of the series. I like that Trick is 100% looking for his mate and ready to get to that part of his life. Combined with the fact that Frankie is half-shifter and mostly living in the human world – it gives this book a little bit more of a unique feel. Wright definitely has a formula and most of her characters have similar personalities, but it’s still nice when there are larger story elements that differentiate the books from each other. I also really enjoyed the mystery/suspense element and the interaction with the Bjorn Pack.
There’s also a little hint at some things going on in the Mercury pack that tease Echoes of Fire.
Narration:
Jill Redfield is still amazing. This is a HUGE cast of characters, male and female, young and old – and even though the packs are expanding and merging, she gives them all unique voices and characteristics. You know exactly who is talking at any given time.
Series Notes:
The Phoenix Pack books are intertwined with Wright’s Mercury Pack series.

About the Author:
From Suzanne Wright’s website: I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing something, whether it was stories, poems, or even songs – though I can’t carry a tune. I only have one rule when I’m writing a book which is that it has to have a happy ending. Other than that, pretty much anything goes. I write stories that I would enjoy reading and then I just hope that others will enjoy them too.
I was born and raised in England where I live with my husband (a person who doesn’t judge me for hearing voices in my head – how often do you come across people like that?), and my two demanding children.
