Rellim’s Thoughts:
I love military romance. I like well written MM. I can like dystopian/sci-fi/paranormal. Hailey Turner does these really well. In the Wreckage is the first book in her Metahuman Files series.
Turner does a good job of introducing us to a LOT of characters and helping the reader keep them as well as their military call signs and all the military acronyms straight. This can sometimes bog down a story but she executed it almost perfectly. Though I read a LOT of military (Fiction & NonFiction), so maybe it was easier for me to grasp than someone new to the genre.
There was an excellent mix of world building, action, mystery, and sex. I feel invested in Alpha Team’s missions as well as the members personally.
My only complaint is that while Jamie & Kyle burn it up in the bedroom 🔥whew!🔥, their time on the page connecting personally is minimal. So, the “falling in love” felt based purely in sex, not so much romance IYKWIM.
Narration:
Greg Boudreaux is wonderful here. This is a huge cast of characters with a variety of accents and he keeps them consistent throughout.
