Rellim’s Thoughts:
I enjoyed this even more than the first book. While the characters are introduced in Marine for Hire – you don’t have to read that to fully enjoy this one. There are some minor references though – so you’ll want to read the series in order.
Kelli & Mac are such strong personalities and their banter is hilarious. A fun romantic comedy with a splash of mystery/suspense/action. Both Mac & Kelli have heavy emotional barriers preventing them from wanting anything long term – but knowing the other feels the same way they dive right in to a purely physical relationship and fake fiancée ruse.
It’s a trope and they’re obviously going to fall but it’s enjoyable watching it happen. Fenske obviously has a lot of fun with the Veterinary technical aspects and I found myself laughing out loud more than once.
I’m looking forward to Grant’s story, Best Man For Hire.
