Rellim’s Thoughts:
After enjoying M.K. Chester’s Bryeton Books series, I was really looking forward to her contemporary work. This is a “take with a grain of salt” review. Enemies to lovers isn’t my favorite trope, I can and have enjoyed it, but generally not with the consistency of other themes. Additionally, the set-up for Ella and Levi meeting as well as the circumstances of their one-night-stand didn’t really work for me. While that’s really only the first two chapters, it’s the basis for large parts of the angst/conflict in the story.
Even though I didn’t love the story – I did read the entire book, I did like Levi and Ella separately, how they worked out their differences. The ending was sexy and sweet and I liked how Chester wrapped things up.
FWIW – I’ve enjoyed Chester’s other books and adored books 2 & 3 in this series: 10 days and Missing.
Note: While part of a series, the New South Romance books have no overlapping characters or events. These truly stand alone and can be listened to in any order.
