He’ll sacrifice his safety for a woman who could completely upend his Christmas.
After Gage Graham saves her from drowning, Hope Fischer revives, determined to learn the truth about her sister’s death. All she has to do is infiltrate a mysterious closed Virginia town and discover why the attractive—but secretive—Gage feels compelled to help her. Can she trust him? Will he risk being discovered by his former employer, the CIA, for a woman he just met? Neither will matter if a killer succeeds.
Point of view:
3rd person. Alternating POVs between Gage & Hope.
While I picked this partially because Christmas is in the title… I wouldn’t really label this a “holiday read” because there isn’t much besides snow & cold weather to indicate the time of year.
That said – I really enjoyed this romantic suspense by Juno Rushdan. I love this kind of series where each book is a complete story but there’s also a mystery that spans the series and joins all the books together.
Gage is an ex-CIA operative in hiding and Hope is searching for answers regarding her sister’s death. They cross paths and Gage is compelled to help Hope out in her quest for the truth. While I generally like a little less “insta” in my love stories – it worked well here. Lots of mystery, suspense, & action. Add in a strong attraction and a little bit of sexy and it’s a solid start to a series.
Ends on an HFN and teases the rest of Gage’s team. I’ve already pre-ordered Alaskan Christmas Escape (book 2) which comes out on November 30th.
