Try Easy

I had my whole life planned out. Then I met you.

Jill Brashear
Try Easy

Publisher’s Synopsis:
Lou already has the perfect boyfriend.

She shouldn’t be attracted to the brooding beach boy who picks her up from the airport on her Hawaiian vacation.

Keoni isn’t even Lou’s type. She prefers a man who wears a suit to work and cuts his hair regularly, not a dangerously sexy surfer who hates tourists.

Keoni says he wants nothing to do with Lou, so why does he keep showing up every day to play tour guide?

As Keoni shows Lou his favorite places in Hawaii, she falls in love—both with the island and the man who embodies the rugged spirit of paradise.

She learns quickly enough that aloha is more than just a greeting and resisting Keoni might be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do.

When love is on the line, there’s no easy way out.

Take a trip back to 1968 and fall in love with the Hawaiian Islands, a heroic surfer, and the tourist he can’t resist.

Point of view:
3rd person. Alternating between Keoni & Lou’s perspectives.

Rellim’s Thoughts:
This is my first book by Jill Brashear. I loved the idea of historical romance set in the 60s (1968). Brashear does an amazing job with her descriptions of Hawaii, surfing, photography, and the people living on the island. It was also a lot of fun to visit a time before cell phones, email, and digital photography.

I connected with Keoni and all his friends and relatives. I loved hearing about their close knit community and their traditions. Unfortunately, I struggled to connect with Lou and, to a lesser extent, Penny. The fact is that Lou cheated on Paul (as did Penny on her boyfriend) and the resolution of that didn’t work for me.

Or perhaps it’s that the resolution happened too close to the end of the book. I wanted more time with Keoni & Leo being in a real relationship so I could truly feel their HFN/HEA.

That said, I am looking forward to Declan’s book, Try Me.

Kaleo Griffith & Desiree Ketchum were wonderful here. I enjoyed both of their performances and thought they complimented the writing and each other wonderfully.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Home Cooked Books and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

About the author:
I love history, and I love romance.
I’ve always written sexy stories. When I was in middle school, I got a week of detention for writing a serial soap opera about the relationships of my classmates (names changed of course). Let’s just say the saga wasn’t exactly PG! I didn’t let detention stop me, and now here I am an author of romance!
Why do I love romance? Because it gives characters the opportunity to grow. Love makes us better people. I believe the journey to finding love is the most important one we’ll ever take.
A common theme in my work is women coming to understand their power. In my books, you’ll find strong heroines blazing a path through history and stumbling over love along the way. You’ll also find intriguing men and sexy settings. I’m a sucker for happy endings, so you’ll find plenty of those, too.
I’m currently working on three different series set in different time periods and different locales. I plan to add one book a year in each series. Although I write in several different subgenres, all of my books will take you on an emotional, whole-hearted ride.
