Dark Collector

Format:
Audiobook

Publisher’s Synopsis:
Jeffrey Kuyper was a once-in-a-generation talent and I was his muse.

Jeffrey’s death shocked the art world and upended my life. His last portrait is an intimate reminder of our final weeks together. Now it’s up for auction and I want it more than anything. When a cold-mannered man in a dark suit outbids me, I’ll agree to anything to buy it from him – even a weekend in his bed.

Rellim’s Thoughts:
I don’t actually remember buying this and I didn’t recognize the author or the description and when I started listening, I actually thought it was M/F (despite my prolific M/M collection). Also, pain during play (biting, fisting) isn’t generally my thing.

However, I actually enjoyed the prose, the story, and even the sex. Oliver’s grief is so raw and the transformation over a weekend is amazing.

Narration:
I really liked Toby Trail’s voices for Oliver and The Dark Collector. They were distinct and well done. Unfortunately there was something that felt unpolished about the delivery/production. Mouth noises and odd pauses were the biggest disruption to listening.
