Publisher’s Synopsis:
Quincy Harker is walking on the side of the angels this time. Or at least beside an angel. It’s the summer of 2009, and Harker, the immortal magic-wielding nephew of Dracula, has a brand-new guardian angel. Her name is Glory, and she’s there to try to keep Harker from getting himself killed. Try is the operative word.
Someone is murdering Nephilim, the rare offspring of human and angel, and using their blood for a terrible ritual. Harker has to find out who the next victim is, who the murderer is, and what the plan is. All in three days. Because no matter what kind of help Heaven sent, it might not be enough to prevent someone from raising a lot of Hell.
Point of view:
1st person. Entirely from Harker’s perspective.
Rellim’s Thoughts:
This is book 5 in the Quincy Harker: Demon Hunter series. Chronologically it actually takes place about 10 years before the first four books, but it makes the most sense to listen to it in the order Hartness has written them.
While he’s over a hundred years old, Harker was a different person a decade ago. It was a lot of fun to watch him meet people for the first time, especially his guardian angel, Glory. Like the other stories this is a lot of fast paced action, snarky humor, and Harker doing what he does best – hunting Demons.
I loved that I got to learn even more about paranormal beings and the occult. Hartness is really great about defining them and explaining their history while keeping the story engaging and progressing. This was one of my favorites of the series so far. I think I may have said that with the last book, but these are all so great it’s hard to pick a favorite.
Narration:
Foster continues to do a fantastic job with the series. Hartness gives him so many characters, including magical beings and demons to work with and Foster expertly portrays them all in unique ways. I was especially impressed with the smooth pronunciation & delivery of all the Latin incantations/spells in this one. Great listen.
About the author:
John G. Hartness is a teller of tales, a righter of wrong, defender of ladies’ virtues, and some people call him Maurice, for he speaks of the pompatus of love. He is also the award-winning author of the urban fantasy series The Black Knight Chronicles, the Bubba the Monster Hunter comedic horror series, the Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter dark fantasy series, and many other projects. He is also a cast member of the role-playing podcast Authors & Dragons, where a group of comedy, fantasy, and horror writers play Dungeons & Dragons. Very poorly.
In 2016, John teamed up with a group of other publishing industry ne’er-do-wells and founded Falstaff Books, a small press dedicated to publishing the best of genre fiction’s “misfit toys.” Falstaff Books has since published over 50 titles with authors ranging from first-timers to NY Times bestsellers, with no signs of slowing down any time soon.
In his copious free time John enjoys long walks on the beach, rescuing kittens from trees and playing Magic: the Gathering. John’s pronouns are he/him.

About the narrator:
Dubbed “the Hardest Working Man in Audiobooks,” James Anderson Foster has won or been nominated for every major award in the audiobook industry, and was one of those kids who actually lettered in drama way back in High School (and if you ask nicely, he might even tell you just how far back that was).
Since that time, he’s done most of his acting behind a microphone, and has narrated audiobooks for a variety of publishers, across nearly all genres – both fiction and non.
