Publisher’s Synopsis:
One hot night changed everything.
As a kid, all I ever wanted to do was fly. I was born a pilot.
And I’m the best fighter pilot in the world. They call me Dice because of my dicey aerial maneuvers.
Safety and security aren’t my first concern. Living big is.
Right before our next big show, we’re forced to work with a new inspector.
You know, the nerdy guys in Levi’s and New Balance sneakers.
Much to my surprise, it’s a curvy babe that makes my blood rush to all the right places.
She’s clever, sexy, and gives me a run for my money when it comes to stubbornness.
But she has a secret that could change everything.
My career, my future, my world.
One night together and she’s got my legacy in her belly.
She decides to not tell me about the baby, and she grounds my plane because she’s scared, which leaves us with a fight on our hands.
I’m used to being the one in control in the sky, but she holds all the power on the ground.
I’ve been a lot of things in my life, but all I want to be right now is her All American Bad Boy.
Point of view:
1st person. Alternating between Mitch & Sam’s perspectives.
Rellim’s Thoughts:
This is book 4 in the Military Men Romance series by Weston Parker. I haven’t read/listened to any of the other books in the series but this stands really well on its own.
Definitely gave me Top Gun vibes without being a copy of that storyline. Despite initially being annoyed with Mitch’s personality, I grew to really love him and enjoyed his growth over the story. Sam was more difficult for me. She’s mechanically smart and the best in her field, unfortunately in terms of life experiences & social interactions she came off as young and ignorant without an explanation as to why.
At first I enjoyed the push/pull between them and the fact that Mitch wanted more while Sam wanted to keep things professional, but it eventually became a little too angsty for me. There was a lot of repetition in the writing and dialogue which I think dragged things out unnecessarily.
I did enjoy their dates and it was obvious Mitch & Sam had a lot in common and could connect easily. The banter, really between all the characters, was a lot of fun. I liked when they were finally on the same page and could easily believe their HEA. Cute epilogue.
Narration:
This was narrator motivated by Conan Kennedy. I enjoy the way that he performs the chapters from Sam’s perspective in a higher affect to differentiate them from Mitch’s. Kennedy has a great range of character voices which was great with so many people regularly speaking. And hoooo boy – Mitch’s voice, especially when he set his sights on Sam.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the narrator and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
About the author:
Hey there. I’m Weston. Have we met? No? Well, it’s time to end that tragedy.
I’m a former firefighter/EMS guy who’s picked up the proverbial pen and started writing bad boy romance stories. I co-write with my sister, Ali Parker, but live in Texas with my wife, my two little boys, a baby girl, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a turtle. Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don’t be jealous.
