Left in Ruins
Format:
ebook
Publisher’s Synopsis:
As the daughter of two of the most recognizable rock stars of all time, Lyric Sinclair has seen it all. After a childhood spent in the limelight… this omega prefers comfy patterned pajamas, quietly donating her time, and nights spent in with her beta boyfriend.
When fate and bad luck intervene, Lyric does what she always does. She runs, hoping all her problems magically disappear.
Unfortunately for Lyric, she runs straight into old hurts, ugly truths, and hard facts.
Lyric must accept reality.
You can’t run forever and you can’t hide from who you are.
The stakes are higher than ever before. Suppressants are failing, her heat is coming, and she’s surrounded by alphas who are desperate to help her.
Lyric is out of options. She has to learn to face her problems or she’ll lose more than she ever thought possible.
Notes: This is a reverse harem omegaverse title. Book One contains very mild MM. This is part one of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. Book two has been simultaneously published. Author’s Note includes more info.
Point of view:
1st person. Alternating between Lyric, Griffin, Lachlan, Callan, & Rooker’s perspectives.
Rellim’s Thoughts:
I’m mistrusting of duets because it sometimes feels like the author just split a single book and bloated it to get two.
I just finished this and, Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. But holy hotness on a cracker! It was like 2 or 3 books worth of amazingness on its own. Was this book sexy as hell? Yessssss! However it can’t be stated enough, West is phenomenal at character development. Even in addition to the MCs – Lyric, Griffin, Lachlan, Callan, & Rooker – the secondary and tertiary characters are just so good (even the ones I hated).
Particularly, the guys’ personalities are so distinct. They also each have their own unique relationship with Lyric and with each other. While she’s an omega – Lyric isn’t completely helpless and part of what the Alpha’s provide for her is encouragement and support to find her own strength. It’s a beautiful but hard road. All those Alphas gives West the opportunity to weave some of my favorite tropes/themes in: bodyguard, second chance, reformed bad boy, and hot shy guy. Loved each of these guys for different reasons.
There’s a little levity as well. Not only the banter between Lyric & her Alphas, but also between the guys themselves, and with the bodyguard team who is like a family to her. It’s weaved through and a nice break when things get especially heavy. The pacing is really well done. I finished this in one day because once I started I literally just hunkered down and ignored the world.
Ready for book 2, Madness.
Content Warnings:
Please read the content warnings West provides at the beginning of the book. This isn’t an easy path for most of the characters and several are still coping in very unhealthy ways.
