Samson’s Lovely Mortal

You are more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever met. And if there weren’t so many people here, I’d show you just how desirable I think you are.

Publisher’s Synopsis:
Vampire bachelor Samson can’t get it up anymore. Not even his shrink can help him. That changes when the lovely mortal auditor Delilah tumbles into his arms after a seemingly random attack. Suddenly there’s nothing wrong with his hydraulics – that is, as long as Delilah is the woman in his arms.

His scruples about taking Delilah to bed vanish when his shrink suggests it’s the only way to cure his problem. Thinking all he needs is one night with her, Samson indulges in a night of pleasure and passion.

However, another attack on Delilah and a dead body later, and Samson has his hands full: not only with trying to hide the fact he’s a vampire, but also with finding out what secrets Delilah harbors for somebody to want her harm.

Point of view:
3rd person. Alternating between Samson & Delilah’s perspectives.

Rellim’s Thoughts:
I just discovered the Tempt app which offers a variety of romance audiobooks for free via streaming. I don’t consider Vampires my go to for romance, but I always seem to enjoy the ones I find and this was no exception. Samson’s Lovely Mortal is book 2 in Tina Folsom’s Scanguards Vampires series.

I enjoyed the mix of humor, mystery, suspense, and romance. Samson has been burned in the past and it’s resulted in a bit of a problem… he isn’t rising to the occasion. Until he meets Delilah. Their first meeting is a misunderstanding and a bit disastrous, but they soon succumb to the immense attraction between them. I liked that there was some push/pull between these two (mostly due to Delilah being understandably unsettled when she discovers the existence of vampires) but it wasn’t drawn out.

I’m excited for the next book, Amaury’s Hellion.

Narration:
I enjoyed Kevin Foley’s narration. He does a great job with all the voices – especially differentiating the huge cast of male characters Folsom has written – and emotions. Enjoyable listen and I’m looking forward to more of him as the series continues.
