I lower my forehead to hers, our lips almost touching, and her breath hitches. I can almost taste her need.

Publisher’s Synopsis:
I’m screwed.
Pippa just showed up uninvited with plans of staying the weekend.
I can hardly handle an hour with her, let alone two days.
Despite more than a year of dodging her, nothing has changed.
She’s the only woman I want.
Smart and sexy and bold.
My best friend’s little sister.
Forbidden.
Denying my desire for her is torture.
And she doesn’t make it easy; she wants me too.
The thing is, making her mine will destroy my best friend.
Note: previously published as Love Block.
Point of view:
1st person. Alternating between Pippa and Drew’s perspectives.
Rellim’s Thoughts:
This is a prequel novella for S. M. West’s 6ix Loves series.
I love the Sibling’s Best Friend trope and I really like how West handled it here. Pippa’s brother had a traumatic experience in his past that influences, for better or worse, how he reacts to her relationships. Drew knows this and has avoided Pippa for years worrying about his growing attraction to her. When his new lake house is in serious need of repair – the close proximity finally brings these two together. (If you like fighting feelings and the victory of finally giving in – this one is for you!)
The question becomes whether it can last against Finn’s objections. While this doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, it’s definitely a tenuous HFN. Drew & Pippa’s story continues in book 1, Trusting the Ex.
Narration:
This was a terrific listen. Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter do a great job with the characters West has written. The attraction, banter, angst, and magnetism come through.
Content Warnings (possible spoilers):
mention of attempted sexual assault of a child (past)
